Colleen Hoover’s Latest Adaptation, Reminders Of Him, Is Out Tomorrow
Love, guilt and redemption- those are the key ingredients to Colleen Hoover’s Reminders of Him, which is the basis of this new adaptation starring Maika Monroe (Longlegs). Monroe plays a woman who is released from prison with profound regret for her past, and seeks to reintegrate with society and rebuild her relationship with her daughter.

What is Reminders of Him about?
Reminders of Him follows Kenna Rowan (Monroe), who’s an ex-convict having spent several years in prison for a terrible, life-altering mistake. Years prior, a perfect day out with her boyfriend ended in a tragic accident that killed him and left her alive but guilt-ridden. Now returning to her hometown and determined to start over, her main priority is to move on with her life and rebuild, as well as reconnect with her young daughter.
But rekindling the mother-daughter relationship proves much more complicated than she imagined or hoped for. Kenna finds that the community she left behind has turned on her following the accident, and her in-laws, who have custody of her daughter, want nothing to do with her. Years of resentment and unresolved grief have increasingly hardened many of the town’s residents against her, with Kenna now desperately trying to combine them she has changed and redeemed herself. The possibility that she might not ever see her daughter again leaves her distraught.
But one person who begins to see her differently is Ledger (Tyriq Withers), a local bar owner who, as he gets to know her, becomes one of the few people willing to give her a chance after talking to her. As their connection grows, Kenna finds a fragile sense of hope that she might be able to overcome being cast out and repair the damage done in the past. But their developing relationship, while cathartic for Kenna, risks reopening old wounds for the people around them, forcing both characters to confront their actions and make difficult decisions. Is forgiveness and reconciliation possible?

Like many of Hoover’s novels, including It Ends With Us, Reminders of Him balances romance with heavier themes, exploring how a loving relationship can emerge even in the aftermath of profound loss and regret.
The film is set to release in cinemas tomorrow [13th March, 2026]. Other cast members include Rudy Pankow, who plays Kenna’s deceased boyfriend, Lauren Graham (Twinless) and Bradley Whitford (The Handmaid’s Tale). You can watch the official trailer below.
