With a new role as a mum, we had a catch-up with Tanya Burr about her new routine, beauty favourites and those all-important style staples.
Congratulations on your new arrival! How are you finding motherhood?
Thank you! Becoming a mother has been the most world-altering and wonderful experience of my life. It is enormously intense, due to the amount of love I feel. I have never felt love like it, so all emotions are magnified and it can feel overwhelming at times. It’s the most magical thing ever.
How has your relationship with social media changed now that you have a little one?
Social media is constantly evolving changing and so is my relationship with it. I like that at the moment it (Instagram in particular) seems like a very respectful place that I can share what I feel comfortable with and there’s no expectation. I definitely don’t scroll like I used to, time is precious and I only work two 8 hour days a week at the moment, and I don’t go on my phone at all when I’m with my son, other than to take photos of him for my own memories!
You’re an avid traveller- where is on your 2023 travel list?
This summer we are going to Lake Como, Mallorca and Tuscany, which I am very excited about. It’s unlike me to have all my travel plans booked, but it’s so nice because I can get excited for the upcoming trips instead of last-minute booking!

What items are you always packing in your suitcase?
My Eres swimsuit, I have had it for years and it’s such high quality it still looks like new and is the best cut. La Roche Posay suncream, a couple of Arket white linen shirts, some kind of loose wide-leg trousers, and an easy day to night dress.
Favourite restaurants in London?
The River Cafe, Daphnes, E&O, The Barbary, Luca for romantic date nights, Petersham Nurseries in Richmond or The Drapers Arms pub in Islington for a great lunch, Greenberry in Primrose Hill, Cafe Philli’s in Kensington or Granger & Co in Notting Hill for brunch.
Any baby brands you’re loving?
We are using the Bugaboo stroller right now and it’s incredible – so smooth on any terrain. Petit Bateau or Zara for outfits and Rosa & Blue for the softest sleepwear. Oh and Charlie Crane – for the most beautiful cots and Moses baskets.
You’ve alway been passionate about beauty; which 5 products can you not live without?
Authored lip balm, Beauty Pie Hylauronic Acid, Lancôme concealer, Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palettes, Sunday Riley Good Genes.
Have you got any skincare secrets?
I recently started using the Current Body LED mask and I’m definitely seeing more of a glow in my skin as the light boosts collagen production. My other skincare tip is to drink water, I drink A LOT. Also, hyaluronic acid – Beauty Pie is my fave one.

How has motherhood changed your beauty regime?
Not massively, I still get the same time to do my skincare every day as I get ready to the day when my son is in his morning nap and then do my evening skincare once he’s gone to bed, so thankfully, skincare is not something I have had to forgo or get quicker at (as I have with many other things).
Who inspires you most and why?
I take inspiration all the time from everything and everyone around me – my friends, social media, art exhibitions, nature and I love doing the Daily Calm on the Calm app and taking inspiration from the words of wisdom of Tamara Levitt.
What are the 3 wardrobe pieces you are revolving right now?
My Whistles striped dungarees, Arket wide leg trousers and the Arket cropped long sleeved t-shirts (which also work great under dungarees).
Are there any fashion staples you buy time and again?
I have wardrobe staples, but not things I buy time and time again, as my staples I have had for years and that’s why they become staples…for example my vintage Levi’s 501’s, an Arket leather jacket and my Totême wool coat.
Have you got anything exciting coming up?
Yes, something is in the works that I’m super excited about, but unfortunately can’t speak about it just yet – hate to be that person, but it’s usually always the way with work!
