Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones And Glen Powell, Here’s Your Next Summer Thriller

We’re all hoping for sunshine and warm days this summer- but what could be one of the season’s biggest hits at the box office is a film all about bad weather. Twisters, a standalone sequel to the original 1996 film Twister, teams Normal People actress Daisy Edgar-Jones with Hit Man and Anyone But You star Glen Powell as tornado chasers- people who risk life and limb to track the natural phenomena as they crash through land. It’s set to land in cinemas next month: here’s everything you need to know.
What is Twisters about?
The original film starred Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, and became a box office hit, though this new instalment focuses on a new cast of characters. Edgar-Jones leads the cast as Kate Carter, who’s long been interested in storms and related phenomena but has taken a step back from the thrill of chasing them herself after a serious incident some years ago that still haunts her. She now prefers to monitor storms and tornados from the safety of a screen in New York City. The idea of going back into the field is still tempting though, and she’s coaxed into returning by her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos), who has cutting edge new tech to track tomatoes and wants to test it.
Soon after departing, Kate meets a famous social media star, Tyler (Powell) and his crew, who’re also storm chasing fanatics but do it purely for the thrill and the view count. He’s charming and personable, but reckless to a fault, and as the storm season gets more and more intense, things get life-threateningly dangerous. Kate, Tyler and their teams will encounter storm phenomena that have never been seen before, and central Oklahoma becomes the site of multiple tornados smashing up everything in their way.
