Embark on a foodie adventure at Carnaby Street Eat

From a restaurant hopping tour to masterclasses and seasonal menus, Carnaby Street Eat has landed. Partnering with the London Restaurant Festival, Carnaby will be home to a series of immersive experiences throughout June. 

Home to over 60 restaurants, bars, pub and cafés spanning more than 30 cuisines, Carnaby boasts something for every palette, from Neapolitan classics at Pizza Pilgrims to small plates from Bar Crispin. With the weather warming up, visit Kingly Court for al fresco dining and a bustling atmosphere.

Expect a series of special menus and promotions running until Thursday 15th across the neighbourhood. Highlights include £5 bao buns from Island Poké when you quote ‘Street Eat’; £5 choricitos a la riojana at Tapas Brindisa; £5 corn dogs from Korean Dinner Party; free rum punch or mocktail when you book and quote ‘Street Eat’ at The Rum Kitchen; and a complimentary cocktail with lunch between 2-4pm at The Life Goddess. Tuck into this summer afternoon tea

Tea for two? Count us in! Seafood specialists Bentley’s Oyster Bar has added a special afternoon tea to its summer offering. 

Available until August, guests can look forward to three layers of delicate treats, all washed down with a glass of rosé and a Lalani and Co tea selection. Nodding to its fish expertise, expect sandwiches filled with smoked salmon and Cornish crab, as well as delightful patisserie and desserts, including polenta cake with mascarpone and Gariguette strawberries.

Book ahead: Taste Of London 

London’s biggest food festival returns to the capital this month, bringing with it its biggest line-up yet. Taking over Regent’s Park, book ahead now and you can expect five epic days of feasting. 

Your one-way ticket to London’s hottest restaurants, top UK chefs and exclusive culinary experiences, it’s packed with highlights, from Hoppers to Caribbean vegan hot spot Jam Delish and Big Mamma Group all making appearances. 

Further confirmed restaurants and chefs include Italian chef Francesco Mazzei, Bar Kroketa famed for its Spanish croquettes, contemporary Indian restaurant Kahani and Mexican hotspot Cavita.

Party into the night with this electrifying DJ set

Looking for somewhere new to venture to this weekend? Dance into the weekend with The Richmond Club’s Friday night DJ set. 

DJ Lindy will be spinning the decks all night, pumping out the hottest summer soundtrack and party anthems. Happy hour kicks off from 5pm onwards with the DJ set starting at 8pm until late.

Take a visit to London’s first alcohol-free taproom

Looking for a great beer alternative? Alcohol-free beer brand LOAH has launched London’s first completely non-alcoholic taproom this week. 

Located near Hackney Downs, it’s the first place where Londoners can sample LOAH’s three core beers on draught. The space has been designed to inspire, complete with an in-store record shop run by BCM Radio, a rotating gallery and exhibition space. Throughout the summer expect a series of events to take place, from curated movie nights and discos to art classes and supper clubs.

Celebrate community at Marylebone Summer Festival

You know summer is officially here when London gets its first wave of open-air activities, and this weekend comes in the form of the Marylebone Summer Festival. 

Taking over Marylebone Village this Saturday and Sunday, the neighbourhood will come alive with events. On Saturday, Paddington Street Gardens’ open-air cinema returns with screenings of Disney’s Encanto and the multi-award-winning Elvis. There’ll be pre-film activities too, from free table tennis and live music to pop-up bars courtesy of 108 Brasserie. 

On Sunday, Marylebone Summer Festival’s Dog Show returns to St Marylebone Parish Church Gardens. In partnership with dog-friendly cafe, Mr and Mrs Small, the show will be hosted by BBC London’s Jo Good and Anna Webb and will see pooches parading the gardens. Elsewhere across the village, expect 80 on-street stalls, family-friendly activities, roaming entertainment and more to be popping up all day.

Watch this live violin performance

Excited for Chevalier to hit cinema screens this weekend? Us too! To celebrate the release, two musicians from the Orpheus Sinfonia Foundation will be performing a violin duel for passers-by at Searcys Champagne Bar at St Pancras station from 12:45pm. 

Inspired by the opening film sequence, the two battling musicians repertoire will include a piece composed by the film’s leading gentleman Joseph Bologne, the Chevalier de Saint-Georges. 

Head down and sample Searcys’ limited-edition cocktail inspired by the film too. The Chevalier 75 is available when dining on a main course until Sunday 11th June.

Bar manager Mattia Bossone and Hutong’s mixologists have created a guide to celebrating the relationship between Chinese philosophy, astrology and the world of mixology. Explore your zodiac sign and uncover its corresponding element. 

For those born in the Year of the Snake, try the Tropical Negroni for a fruity yet bitter serve. While those born in the Year of the Dog can look forward to the Coffee & Melon Martini, made with cold brew organic coffee, hazelnut, chocolate liqueur, Zacapa Centenario 23-Year-Old Rum and a hint of melon.

Catch an open-air screening

For a picturesque cinematic experience, look to Coppa Club at The Great House’s outdoor cinema series for inspiration. 

Skylight Cinemas has returned to the countryside destination for a series of open-air screenings. This Friday, you can see catch the biographical musical drama centred around British icon Elton John in the award-winning 2019 Rocketman. 

Gates open at 8pm, with entry including headphones and a deckchair for the performance and a BBQ burger and two sides. Drinks, popcorn and sweets will be available to buy from the outdoor bar. Bring a blanket to cosy up with once the sun goes down.

Catch this outdoor seaside exhibition

For a seaside excursion this weekend, make the trip to Bexhill-On-Sea to catch De La Warr Pavilion’s latest outdoor installation. Titled Seated, Tschabalala Self’s work predominantly features Black and femme bodies, drawing on their powerful identities. 

This latest work evokes acts of resting reflection and leisure, all of which slot alongside DLWP’s coastal context. Looking out towards the sea, this striking work isn’t to be missed.
