Four people, including Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan, sit in a living room facing each other in pairs. Ornate maroon walls and two lit lamps in the background create a warm, intimate atmosphere.

One of TV’s best surprises in recent years was Beef, the dark comedy drama that arrived on Netflix in 2023, depicting the escalating feud between Danny (Steven Yeun) and Amy (Ali Wong). Three years later, the series is back for a second season, but this time there’s an entirely different setting: new characters, new beef.

The starry cast includes Oscar Isaac (Dune), Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman), Cailee Spaeny (Civil War) and Charles Melton (May December). Here’s all you need to know ahead of Season 2’s launch.

What is Beef Season 2 about?

When Beef’s second season was announced back in 2024, we learned that the series would take on an anthology format, with a new cast of characters in each season. Danny and Amy’s story of a road rage-induced feud seemed to be mostly wrapped up in the final episode, so who’s got beef this time around? Instead of a one-on-one feud, it looks like we’re going with couple against couple: Ashley Miller (Spaeny) and Austin Davis (Melton) are newly engaged, and both get jobs at a fancy country club. Their boss is general manager Josh (Isaac), who’s married to Lindsay (Mulligan), and a single encounter kicks off not only a feud but a whole series of machinations and manipulations.

What’s the beef?

It seems not everything is well in Josh and Lindsay’s marriage: the couple’s relationship is described as “unravelling”, only adding to the conflict. They’re vying for the approval of the super-rich owner of the country club, Chairwoman Park (played by Minari’s Youn Yuh Jung), who herself is managing a scandal involving her second husband, Doctor Kim (Parasite’s Song Kang-Ho).

The show’s creator, Lee Sung Jin, said to Netflix’s press site Tudum that he wanted to capture a generational divide between Gen Z and Millennials to keep things interesting. He continues that while Josh and Lindsay have been together for years, Austin and Ashley’s relationship hasn’t been tested: “Austin and Ashley think all they need is each other and the beach. So when we meet them, they are thrust into intersecting with our millennial couple.”

What else do we know, and when can I watch?

Beef Season 2 also stars William Fichtner (Talamasca), Seoyeon Jang (Butterfly) and Mikaela Hooever (Superman) in supporting roles. Netflix has yet to release a trailer, but has dropped a few first-look images, so you can be sure one is right around the corner. The show itself is set to return on 16th April.
