Love it or hate it, you just can’t ignore matcha anymore – it’s become one of London’s most beloved green obsessions. A type of green tea that was originally served at tea ceremonies in Japan, it’s now taken the world by storm, and you’ve probably got more than one friend who is drinking a matcha a day. So to cater to the matcha craze, we’ve filtered down a list of London cafes to go to find matcha on the menu in London, whether you like it in an iced drink or your dessert – plus, we’ve got a couple of great team reccs too.

Moko Made Cafe

Moko Made is the matcha spot in London. The team is lovely, and it’s the perfect cosy place to spend hours reading. Plus, bonus points for the miso soup + housemade onigiri lunch special.

I’m usually an iced drink girl, but their warm honey matcha is the ultimate comfort.

Konveni Matcha Café

As the name suggests, Konveni Matcha Cafe is where to go for everything and anything matcha-related. On the menu, we spotted an iced date matcha latte that will instantly win your heart.

Depending on your taste and intensity preference, the team can help you choose the perfect matcha for you with their carefully crafted house blends. There are seasonal matchas available throughout the year, with a pretty strawberry flavour on the menu for summer.

Katsute

With tea rooms across London, Katsute is where to go on a hot day in London for a refreshing cooler. Try the matcha parfait if you’re looking for something indulgent. With layers of silky matcha soft serve, cream and crispy cone, this one’s a real crowd pleaser. They even hosted a matcha latte workshop in their Edinburgh branch, so if you make enough noise, we might get one in London too…You can also get authentic wagashi here this summer – a cake made from sweet mochi and wrapped in a thin pancake in the shape of a sweetfish.

Try the matcha parfait if you’re looking for something inuldgent.

KOI 11

Step into Marylebone’s KOIBIRD and you’ll find KOI 11, a nutrition cafe that serves herbal drinks and sweet treats. One of their most popular items on the menu is the iced mangosteen matcha that’s described as “a radiant boost in a glass. The antioxidant-rich matcha blends slow-release caffeine with creamy coconut, mangosteen, electrolytes and NAD+ that boosts cellular energy and is great for your skin.

WA Cafe

WA is a small, independent patisserie located in Ealing Broadway, Covent Garden and Marylebone. They bring together Japanese patisserie with French tradition and technique, and the result is cakes that look like little pieces of art. The cafes serve premium teas and coffee, and the matcha rolls are a favourite. If you’re looking for a classic iced matcha as well, you will be in good hands here.

TSUJIRI

TSUJIRI is one of the pioneers responsible for bringing the finest matcha to the world. The institution is all about celebrating matcha and you can expect the freshest and most authentic matcha experience here. They have teasingly good matcha ice cream, lattes and Japanese teas, and they even have a matcha tea set that you can gift to a fellow matcha-lover, which includes an authentic Chawan bowl, Chasen bamboo whisk, chasen holder, Chashaku bamboo teaspoon and your choice of matcha powder – Umenoshiro or Yutaka Mukashi.

Blank Street

Blank Street’s cookies and cream matcha is a chilled concoction that nods playfully to everyone’s favourite ice cream flavour. The summer special brings together their matcha with an indulgent white chocolate and cookie blend, swirled with your choice of oat or dairy milk and crowned with cookie crumbles.

As the Internet’s favourite matcha spot, it’s no surprise Blank Street made this list – it’s my local and the must-order drink for summer is the new Cookies & Cream Matcha (my new guilty pleasure)
