Are you ready for the hottest jewellery trend to hit? Simple, boho with a touch of nostalgia, cord necklaces are set to be everywhere for the second summer in a row.

Here’s the truth: I wasn’t entirely sold on this craze. When my good friend first revealed her newfound obsession with these little necklaces, it took me careening back to the decade of crop tops and grunge. Y2K, here we go again. Then I began to see them styled with sleek dresses and even boho fits. Suddenly, I got it. This basic piece, made up of a thin string of rope or leather and a bold pendant, says I’m kinda cool, but I haven’t tried. Think of it as the laid-back girl’s jewellery.

With renowned names such as Tom Ford, Tiffany, and Aegnes giving the cord pendant necklace a major moment in the spotlight, it’s no surprise that smaller brands have followed suit. Alona’s Odessa necklace gives off ‘Greek goddess vibes’, while Alighieri’s Catch Of The Day pendant is more about the ‘barefoot on a Greek Island‘ aesthetic—both of which I can totally get on board with.

Missoma is another brand that is getting it just right. Its entire collection is stunning, not to mention the covetable collab with the ever-stylish Lucy Williams—just gorge. But, like the rest, Missoma has also introduced the most beautiful cord necklaces. Although these golden stones are literally hanging by a thread, they still look incredibly slick.

If you’re already in vacation mode, look out for shell, fish and starfish pendants. Oliver Bonas, Eliou and Anthropologie are all about the seaside inspo. I can almost feel the sea…
