6 Wellness Hacks Laura Whitmore Swears By To Get In Tip-Top Shape

Irish media sensation, London-based model, and TV personality extraordinaire, Laura Whitmore has been gracing our screens with her beauty, charm, and wit for years. Here, she reveals how she keeps on top of her beauty and fitness regime while juggling working mum life.
What is your earliest beauty memory?
My mum always said cleanse, tone, moisturise, and I still do it to this day. I also remember she had a perm, don’t do that!
I swear to God my mother looks younger now than she did when she was in her 30s when she was my age. Don’t ever get a perm!
Fresh-faced and joggers or red-carpet glam with full-face of makeup?
I think there’s a time and a place for both. I have to say I’m a huge fan of Pamela Anderson’s makeup-free look, I saw her at the British Fashion Awards last year and she looked beautiful – she was radiating. I enjoy a bit of red carpet glam, I don’t look like that day-to-day, half my Instagram you see me at work things, at home it’s normally a top knot and in activewear. So, I think yeah, time and a place, I do enjoy makeup, I do enjoy dressing up and how it makes me feel and I think you can really have fun expressing yourself through clothes and through beauty – there’s a reason why it’s one of the biggest industries in the world, if not the biggest.
What are your go-to wellbeing treatments?
My go-to’s are things that work for my lifestyle and things I know I can stick to. So, for example, I go to Exhale Pilates regularly once or twice a week. That’s me trying to get my strength back, particularly after having a child. Pilates is something that makes me feel strong and I’ve been doing that in conjunction with a fantastic new treatment called Core to Floor with Thérapie clinic. It works your entire core and pelvic floor which improves both muscle strength and pelvic floor weakness – it combines both EMSCULPT and EMSELLA treatments. EMSCULPT really targets your abdominal muscles, it’s reported that it promotes -30% less fat on average +25% more muscle mass, which is crazy. And one EMSELLA Treatment = 11,000 Kegels.

Pelvic floor health is something that I didn’t really know about until after childbirth. Since then, it’s something that I’ve been looking into and talking about with my girlfriends, as we feel it’s something incredibly important but often overlooked.
I want to feel strong and empowered to take on new roles, I would never want my body to hold me back from opportunities.
I was lucky enough to go back to work very quickly after birth, but I was working on a show that was very physical, and I was then performing in a play where I’d have to scream and run off stage – I specifically remember thinking ‘God, I really hope my pelvic floor can take this!’. My physical fitness and general strength are very important to me – I want to do things that can help me with future work.
How has your wellness regime changed since becoming a mum?
I’m more efficient with my time – time is precious as a working mum, so things that I do have to easily fit in. So, for example, when I was doing core to floor, there is a Thérapie Clinic in Brent Cross shopping centre, which is not too far from me, so I did my shopping and then popped in for a 30-minute treatment. Similarly, Exhale Pilates, my Pilates studio is close to my house. I can do a class first thing in the morning, or straight after nursery drop off or in between shoots.
It’s trying to make things fit around my schedule and constantly reminding myself the importance of self-care.
Do you have any wellness rituals?
A bath! I could literally just melt away in the bath and soak there all day – a glass of wine and a candle helps as well. I love Jo Malone and Neom candles – I mean any candle you’ll give me; I’ll take. Surprisingly the Thérapie Clinic Core to Floor treatment is like chill-out time for me, because you can’t be on your phone when you’re using the machine, so the treatment forces you to switch off – which is a blessing in disguise.
Do you take any supplements?
I’ve recently started taking collagen supplements. Sometimes, if I feel like my immune system is a bit low and I’m catching colds easily, I’ll take some Vitamin C or Berocca or Vitamin D supplements. I try to get as much as I can from my food intake, so I’m not relying too much on supplements, but I also don’t eat red meat, so I often rely on iron supplements.
What beauty/health advice would you give your twenty-year-old self?
You know what, don’t worry about it, preventative is great. Make your mistakes in your 20s. Fall asleep with makeup with your face planted into a pillow, that’s ok. You’re not going to ruin yourself too much in older life.
The one thing I would always say though is wear SPF – and a hat. I’ve always been cautious because I have Irish skin. But there’s definitely a few festivals I have gone to where I should’ve had more SPF on my face and regret that now I’m a little older.
What’s on your beauty repeat buy list?
For my hair: Moroccan Oil Treatment Hair Oil. For my face: I always have a bold red lipstick in case of emergencies, Trish McEvoy does a great one, and so do HIGHR. For a night out I love IT Cosmetics, they do a lovely CC cream which is like a foundation, but it has SP50 in it too and
Charlotte Tilbury makeup always delivers.
Where do you shop for unique beauty and fashion finds?
Fashion: Vintage and second-hand shops are my go-to, but I’ve also discovered a great website called Circle of Style where I found a Vivienne Westwood dress which I wore to the British Fashion Awards – it was like wearing a piece of fashion archive. All thanks to my stylist Emma Lane. I’m also lucky that I live in North London, Camden area, there’s loads of cool second-hand shops which I often pop into.
Beauty: Like the rest of the country, I was super excited when Sephora arrived in the UK, but I also love trying and testing products in old-school department store beauty halls. If I’m replenishing a product, I’ll usually buy it online on Cult Beauty.
What is the one product you don’t leave home without?
It would be several, rather than one. I would say a high SPF, a sheeny lip oil and a light-coverage CC cream.
Do you have a signature scent?
It’s currently Gucci Flora Gorgeous Jasmine scent but I do love a bit of Tom Ford’s Fucking Fabulous as well.
Summer is around the corner (woohoo!) are you a self-tan or real tan kinda gal?
I don’t lie out in the sun at all, but if I’m walking around in the sunshine, I usually wear a hat and always SPF. I rely on Sol de Janeiro Glowmotions Glow Oil Copacabana Bronze and Vita Liberata Body Blur for some extra glow and natural colour.
And finally, how do you juggle motherhood with a fabulous yet demanding career that is often out of hours?
I don’t know! I’m in survival mode. Sometimes I don’t feel like I’m juggling it very well, other days I think I’m nailing it, but I think that’s just life.
