Liverpool Street Station gets a bad reputation. In the public consciousness, it exists as a hotspot for financial services and, therefore, a more ‘style-over-substance’ type of restaurant. This may be true, but that’s not all there is – from Sri Lankan spots and a foodie mecca to Peruvian rooftops and omakase, there’s a wild amount of variety within a 10-minute circumference of the station. Here’s our pick of the 11 best restaurants near Liverpool Street Station.

LIMA Shoreditch

In 2012, brothers Gabriel and Jose Gonzalez opened LIMA in Fitzrovia to showcase Peru’s emerging gastronomy. Their goal was to bring the vibrant and soulful cuisine of Peru to London. Over a decade later, they have had the privilege of serving the finest Peruvian flavours at LIMA Fitzrovia & Cantina. Now, LIMA Shoreditch brings the group’s classic dishes alongside new menu creations to the Sun Street Hotel. The menu offers a modern take on traditional Peruvian cooking, with references to Nikkei cuisine and Chifa (a blend of Japanese and Chinese cooking techniques with native Peruvian produce).

The Ceviche Mixto Nikkei is a must-try a vibrant mix of fresh sea bass, octopus, sweet potato, and more. The tangy, spicy Tiger’s Milk ties it all together beautifully. Pair it with a classic Pisco Sour for a perfect combo.

Yauatcha City

Tucked into Broadgate Circle near Liverpool Street, Yauatcha City is a lovely spot for a post-work dinner, or a midweek lunch in the heart of City. Serving genuine Cantonese food, a good option to go for is the October special, where you can enjoy the supreme dim sum platter, with a selection of steamed, baked and fried dim sum alongside their classic char siu bao, perfectly paired with a bottle of Billecart Salmon Le Reserve Champagne for £98.

I had a great time at Yauatcha and was so impressed with the menu – the dumplings are some of the best in London, you just can’t help but want to dive in for more!

Hawksmoor’s formula – of sourcing only the very best British beef, and recruiting the best steak chefs to prepare it – is a real success. From T-bone and Chateaubriand to prime rib and porterhouse, Hawksmoor’s got it all. For sides, we love the triple-cooked chips and macaroni cheese – all to be gobbled by the bucketful.
