Get ready to venture back below the surface: the third season of Silo, Apple TV’s dystopian sci-fi based on the books by Hugh Howey, is dropping on streaming next month. Rebecca Ferguson is back as our main character, Juliette, who, months on from the dramatic second season finale, is dealing with new and even more difficult problems. Here’s all you need to know ahead of the July release date:

What is Silo Season 3 about?

Season 3 of Silo continues the story of the 10,000 people living inside a vast underground network, a structure built to protect humanity from the supposedly toxic, uninhabitable outside. However, as we already know, the truth about why the silo was constructed and what is really going on outside is far more complicated. Season Two explored Juliette venturing beyond the silo and ended with a big cliffhanger, with her trapped in an airlock, and then flashing back to the past.

This is where Season 3 gets interesting and begins to fill in the gaps of our knowledge of the show’s world. These new episodes will explore the “Before Times,” i.e., the era before humanity retreated underground. The season has been promoted so far with the tagline “the end of the world had a beginning”, so expect to learn a lot more about what really happened in the years before. Rebecca Ferguson returns as Juliette Nichols, who survived the dramatic events of the previous season that we mentioned earlier, but finds herself only facing new challenges. Now dealing with memory loss, she’ll need to get herself back up to speed as the silo recovers from attempted rebellion.

What else do we know, and who else stars?

There’s a few new cast members at play, including Jessica Henwick (Vladimir) and Ashley Zukerman (Designated Survivor), who both appeared in at the very end of Season 2, along with Laura Innes (How To Get Away With Murder), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Morven Christie (The Bay), Reed Birney (Succession) and Matt Craven (Resurrection).

The intense yet cryptic official trailer (which you can watch below) brings us up to speed on Juliette, who has lived with her memory loss for three months, and shows glimpses of the world that existed before the silo.

When does it release?

Silo Season 3 will start on Apple TV on 3rd July 2026. There are 10 episodes in the season, which will be released weekly.
