Michael Fassbender Leads David Fincher’s Thrilling New Movie

If there are two things that get us instantly excited about a new movie, it’s a big A-list star and the promise of a good, thrilling story. On the horizon are Netflix’s The Mother, starring Jennifer Lopez and set to drop in June, and upcoming political thriller Conclave, starring Ralph Fiennes, to name two. Netflix is currently developing another thriller film, The Killer, which brings together Michael Fassbender and director David Fincher- and it’s safe to say we can’t wait.
The Killer is adapted from a French graphic novel series of the same name which debuted back in 1998. Written by Matz and illustrated by Luc Jacamon, The Killer tells the story of an unnamed assassin and his life and became a critical success in the world of comics. Now, 10 years after the last comic was released in 2013, it’s being turned into a full-length film, though it’s not known how much of the series will be adapted into the story. The mysterious killer is a solitary figure who doesn’t appear to care about the consequences of his actions and seems to have no regrets. However, as time passes while looking for another target, he begins to wonder if he’s losing his grip on reality, and his mind.

Fincher, director of films like Seven, Fight Club, Zodiac, Gone Girl and The Social Network, has worked extensively with Netflix, notably on the film Mank and the also killer-focused Mindhunter series. Considering his track record, expect The Killer to grip you from start to finish.
Fassbender takes on the main role of the elusive assassin, having played the villainous Magneto in X-Men and the cunning android David in Prometheus and Alien Covenant. Also set to star are Charles Parnell, recently seen as Solomon “Warlock” Bates in Top Gun: Maverick, Arliss Howard, who appeared in Mank, Sophie Charlotte (Todas as Flores) and Tilda Swinton, who’s set to appear in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City.
There’s no trailer yet, but Netflix did sneak some very brief footage showing Fassbender in action into its preview for 2023, which also showcases projects like The Mother and Damsel. Filming began in 2021, and The Killer is set to release on Netflix on 10th November this year.
