27 Work Dresses You’ll Want To Wear To The Office
Make dressing for the office a breeze with our edit of work dresses sure to impress. From classic shifts to modern takes on the failsafe shirt dress, and linen wrap designs to autumnal cosy jumpers, here are our favourites. Oh, and did we mention they’re all from the high street…?
We don’t know about you but ever since our WFH days upped, dressing for the actual office feels like a minefield. But we are big believers in the power of the work dress – one throw-on item that doesn’t take much thought but packs a punch whether you have an important meeting to attend or have plans after work.
And there’s no better place than the high street right now if you’re looking for an artillery of power dresses that will transcend the trends and also not blow an entire month’s worth of wages in one.
First up, linen. Whilst the UK is still having some relatively balm days, beat the sticky commute with a breathable linen number. We love H&M‘s tie-waist blazer dress that brings a business-like feel to the casual fabric. while Abercrombie’s wafty button-through linen dress will look impossibly chic paired with gold statement earrings and brown accessories.
The shirt dress has been a staple of the working wardrobe for as long as we’ve been in employment and this season, there are plenty of pieces that approach it with a more modern shape. Case in point: Mango’s checked dagger collar design comes with an almost sarong-like skirt. Pair it with an oversized trench and statement black sunnies for a modish feel.
If you’re a fan of a mini dress and your dress code allows it, we love a ’60s-inspired shift dress paired with black tights and ballet pumps for a pulled-together but fun look. Anthropologie has a great checked number, while Zara’s cream dress with little bow details is the ultimate excuse to go for drinks or dinner post-work.
And finally, the working wardrobe needn’t be all black, navy and beige, add a pop of colour to your midweek with ME+EM’s batwing candy pink beauty or Sézane’s signature long shirtdress in pale blue chambray.
