It may be the most basic piece in your wardrobe, but don’t underestimate the power of a plain t-shirt. Need some inspiration on how to elevate this simple yet hardworking fashion must-have? Or how to wear a graphic tee? Then read on to see how the stylish are donning theirs.

In the last few years, the fashion tee has come into its own. I mean, the evidence is in the explosive array of designer tops selling out almost instantly. You only need to look to Ganni, Anine Bing or Isabel Marant; now cult classics, these designer slogan tees are your shortcut to cool. On the more affordable end of the scale, they offer a gateway to an expensive lifestyle. Many might dream of owning Ganni jeans or Marant cowboy boots (I know I do), but all too aware that these splurges may strain the bank balance, a t-shirt emblazoned with the label’s logo seems like a very nice compromise.

Aside from the designer appeal, let’s not ignore the importance of a simple classic. While wearing a crisp shirt with tailoring or jeans is undeniably chic, opting for a beautifully cut T-shirt offers a level of relaxed elegance. Similarly, pairing with a lace skirt makes the look less feminine and more SS25. Plus, you can’t beat an oversized tee under a blazer… or with dungarees… or over your swimsuit. See, it is officially the fashion item that keeps on giving.

& Other Stories has and continues to be my personal go-to for easy, everyday tops. The quality feels good, and the cut, in my opinion, is super flattering. As for specific designs, vintage band styles remain the prevailing trend. However, as we crawl towards summer, there’s a definite trend for all things tropical, specifically bananas. No joke. Check out Farm Rio, Alémais and Ganni. For something a touch more classic, I had to include the ever-faithful striped tee. Great with shorts, suits and jeans, but oh so Parisian. 2. City break chic

The Ganni tees continue to be firm favourites with the fashion set.

3. Vacay vibes

4. Quiet luxe

Relaxed doesn’t mean slovenly; simple, pared back style can look effortlessly chic and still feel amazingly comfortable.

5. Summer in the city

The classic tee is the building block to many a great outfit. It works particularly well when layering with more elevated pieces, especially when pulling together refined workwear looks.
