If there’s one genre we need more of, it’s heist thrillers: if you loved recent hits like Lift, Lupin and Money Heist, then Sophie Turner’s new project Haven is just for you.

The new series will be arriving on Amazon Prime Video, and stars the Game of Thrones actress leading the cast. Her role sees her as an office worker, forced to help a group of criminals steal a massive payday in what’s described as a “high-octane thriller” miniseries. Here’s all to know:

What is Haven about?

Haven is being produced by the same UK production company behind this year’s One Day on Netflix, though it’s in a rather different setting. Zara (Turner) is an ordinary office employee working in somewhat unglamorous circumstances, in a British-based pension fund investment company. Her time at Lochmill Capial is uneventful- that is until a cunning but violent group of professional thieves burst in having planned an ambitious operation. Their aim is to grab millions if not billions of pounds from the very pension funds that Zara works with, and she becomes entangled in the ordeal when they turn to her to demand help. They also target her best friend Luke (Saltburn’s Archie Madekwe), leaving the two of them in mortal danger and navigating a precarious situation.

Of course, this audacious crime attaches the attention of the authorities, with DCI Rhys (Jacob Fortune-Lloyd) sent in to investigate the who, the how and the why of the pension theft. But Rhys has his own problems aside from the case: a gambling addiction creeping back up on him, and some burning money issues. Balancing these problems and his work, he’ll have to uncover competing interests and secret agendas that crop up the further he wades in. The stakes are high, and our characters will be pushed to the limit in this fast-moving thriller.

What else do we know, and is there a release date?

More details will be released in the coming months, but production of Haven is in full swing, with filming having begun in May. Another notable name attached to the project is Emmy-nominated Sam Miller, who’ll direct three episodes of the series and has worked on acclaimed shows such as Luther, Fortitude, Black Mirror, Daredevil and I May Destroy You, so you can expect some high-quality drama. Haven will likely arrive late this year or in 2025, but we’ll bring you more details when they’re announced by Amazon.
