You know those days when you have nothing to wear? Sure, it might not *actually* be the case but we’re here to take the faff out of getting ready in the morning with the look that all the style Instagrammers are adopting… the lazy girl fashion trend. From pyjama-style striped trousers for the day to oversized T-shirts borrowed from the boys’ department, Adidas trackie bottoms to hoodies and slip skirts, here are seven looks we love…

LOOK 1

No idea what to wear? A striped shirt will always add an element of polish to a look even when paired with I’ve-not-tried baggy jeans, flip-flops and a cap – the latter is also ideal if you play into the lazy girl hair approach. Zara is a go-to when it comes to menswear-inspired striped shirts and these 8PM baggy, washed jeans are a great investment for summer paired with sandals, as well as the cooler months when you can add a point-toe boot.

A silk slip skirt with a hoodie? Surely not but it works as seen here on digital creator Cat Patterson. A sickly pink pastel colour palette keeps things fun and makes a statement with little effort.

An oversized T-shirt is the lazy girls fast-track to myriad summer looks, but The Frankie Shop has taken things up a notch by lengthening the hem into a full maxi tee dress. Lean into its sporty vibe with chunky trek sandals and a sports cap.

It’s officially ok to wear trackies for fashion – even for the office if your dress code runs on flexi-time. This bright green Adidas pair are giving ’90s Sporty Spice, whilst the denim gilet (a dead-ringer for a 10th of the price Isabel Marant version) and iconic Wales Bonner Sambas keep things fashion editor-worthy.

Pyjama-style pants are having a moment right now but if they feel a little too WFH vibes, keep the whole look monochromatic with an oversized black tee and ‘wrong shoe theory‘ ballet flats. Basically, if French girls did casual Fridays.

Kim Turkington nails ‘rolled-out-of-bed’ chic with these boxer-stye shorts and a roomy sweatshirt – proving you don’t need to look pulled together to look cool. Scrunch up the sleeves, and add a baseball cap and ribbed socks for a fashion edge.

Emili Sindlev rarely gets it wrong when it comes to nonchalant, low-key looks. Take With Nothing Underneath’s pink candy-striped shirt and pair it with low-slung, ’90s-inspired denim and a ribbed vest – can we talk about how good Uniqlo’s built-in bra version is? Surely the epitome of lazy girl style – and finish off with Prada’s noughties nylon bag for a bit of designer polish. NB. The high street has great affordable options at far less eye-watering prices.
