5. Long Day’s Journey Into Night

Eugene O’Neill has written a plethora of masterpieces, but Long Day’s Journey Into Night is our all-time favourite. With a stacked cast and an already brilliant story, this show is every theatre-goer’s dream come true. Watch the familiar faces and blazing performances of Brian Cox, Patricia Clarkson, Alex Lawther, Daryl McCormack, and Louisa Harland as they take this masterpiece to the next level.

In 2024, award-winning director Jeremy Herrin will be bringing this great American play to life at Wyndham’s Theatre. For those unfamiliar with the show, O’Neill’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play depicts a summer day in the life of the Tyrones, closely based on O’Neill’s own chaotically dysfunctional family. 6. Mean Girls The Musical

Get in loser, Mean Girls is coming to the West End! We are beyond thrilled that this stunning show is making its way across the pond for 2024, even though this story is all but unfamiliar. We all know how things play out: Katie moves away from Africa and is faced with the powerful force that is popularity.

We can say with full confidence that this musical brings a new dimension to Rosalind Wiseman’s original novel and Tina Fey’s film version. It adds even more brilliance and comedy to an already perfect story, making it one of the best Musicals of the year. If you’ve already seen the new film in cinemas, grab some cheese fries, pop on a pink jumper, and snag some tickets for the stage show for a fetch time.

If there is one movie we can watch over and over again, it is The Devil Wears Prada. We cannot think of a better film than one consisting of Stanley Tucci’s witty one-liners, Anne Hathaway’s stunning transformation, and Meryl Streep’s ice-cold glare. That said, thank god a musical version of this cinematic masterpiece is making its way into the West End.

Watch this story unfold through brilliant minds, one being Oscar and Grammy Award winner Elton John. Beginning its run in October of 2024 at the Dominion Theatre, The Devil Wears Prada is one show you cannot miss. Gird your loins and squeeze into some designer – this is one show you cannot miss. 10. Hadestown

It seems this year’s trend is Broadway shows making their way to the UK. That said, Hadestown is bringing its dark vibes and ethereal music to the West End in 2024. This popular tale tells the story of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone. This wonderful tale is told through beautiful music and talented voices – what more do you need?

Singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and director Rachel Chavkin primarily presented this multi-award-winning musical to New York, but with its increased popularity,  it’s only fitting that it’s to be shared across the pond. The musical combines aspects of hope and love with a trickle of sadness and tragedy. It will be sure to keep you on your toes and humming the tunes for days afterwards.

Nothing excites theatre folk more than new musicals with massive potential, and Opening Night is definitely one of them. Watch as the incomparable Sheridan Smith returns to the stage in this new musical featuring music and lyrics by Rufus Wainwright and Tony and Olivier Award-winner Ivo van Hove.

Like any other new musical, we have no clue what to expect. When the star of their show is hit by tragedy, the stakes grow higher for the cast and crew.
