From Paul Mescal‘s very short Gucci shorts to Sienna Miller‘s neverending Chloé wardrobe and Charli XCX‘s era-defining brat summer, 2024 has brought us some epic fashion moments. Here we take a look back at our best dressed of 2024…

Sienna Miller

From her new position as the no.1 Chloé poster girl to her recently launched M&S collection (that, quite frankly, we would wear all of), her dedication to bohemian dressing with a grown-up twist to her way around a barrel-leg jean, 2024 was, without doubt, the year of the Siennaissance.

Anok Yai

Being 2024’s Model of The Year helps to look good just about any time but, wow, does Anok Yai know her way around a red carpet? From this year’s British Fashion Awards look from the career-changing 1994 collection by John Galliano to dripping in 98,000 Swarovski crystals at the Met Gala, we’ve loved watching her dramatic and ultra-glam looks at some of the biggest fashion events of the year.

Zendaya

Zendaya needs little introduction when it comes to red carpet style. Whilst her off-duty wardrobe is very low-key – sweats, baggy jeans, hoodies and sneakers – her event-dressing looks are high-octane masterpieces. Often playing into the films she is promoting, there’s an element of cosplay, from her head-to-toe metal suit of armour at the premier of Dune: Part 2 to subtle nods to tennis culture for the press tour of Challengers, Zendays is nothing if not dedicated.

Daisy Edgar-Jones

If there was one red carpet queen who everyone in The Handbook office agreed should take the title, it was Brit actress Daisy Edgar-Jones. We have loved watching her on screen and the red carpet since she made lockdown all the more bearable in Normal People to become one of the brightest stars of 2024. But heTwisters movie promo tour wardrobe really stood out, from ruffled Chloé frocks to femme fatale dresses by Vivienne Westwood – let’s be honest, the wardrobe was way better than the actual film.

Paul Mescal

From Daisy to her co-star and red carpet friend Paul Mescal (we’ve all seen the memes), who has proved himself as one of the fashion darlings of the red carpet this year. The Irish star of Gladiator 2 has wowed in everything from chocolate brown Gucci suits to being the official ambassador for short shorts, socks and loafers, he takes risks and nails them every time.

Simone Ashley

Star of Netflix’s Bridgerton, Simone Ashley, has treated us to so many great red-carpet looks this year. From blush pink Prada bows at the British Fashion Awards to a black mini dress with a floor-sweeping train at Cannes, this woman knows how to dress for a party.

Park Seonghwa

K-Pop star, Park Seonghwa, is the perfect example of wearing clothes on your terms rather than the clothes wearing you. He has treated us to everything from deconstructed tux looks to Western-inspired double denim.

Charli XCX

The 360 party girl single-handedly made us all want to be a little bit brat this summer with a wardrobe that was an ode to messy 2000s style – think handkerchief hemmed skirts, biker collars and tiny white vests. But Charli XCX also has a grungy, gothic edge to her look with an almost exclusive colour palette of whites, greys and blacks, lots of leather and lashings of kohl liner that looks like it may or may not have been slept in.

Ncuti Gatwa

Star of Dr Who, Barbie and Sex Education, Ncuti Gatwa‘s star has been on an epic trajectory this year and his impeccable style has mirrored that perfectly with countless looks on the red carpet. From deconstructed tailoring by Armani to tartan kilts in Vogue that play into his Scottish roots, we are always excited to see what Ncuti steps out in.

Greta Lee

Star of the very touching 2023 film, Past Lives, Greta Lee has not only cemented herself as one of the moment’s most interesting actresses but a bonafide It-girl. on the red carpet too. Her looks are darling but demure thanks to celeb stylist, Danielle Goldberg who has dressed her in everything from Proenza Schouler to Loewe and Christopher Esber.

Jonathan Bailey

There is not a Jonathan Bailey look we haven’t loved this year. Even in a classic white T-shirt he looks incredible in that simple, sexy James Dean way. But the Wicked star isn’t afraid to push the sartorial envelope either, with some seriously good suits, a penchant for high-waist trousers and silk low-cut shirts. Perfection.

Ayo Edebiri

The Bear actress, Ayo Edebiri swapped her chef whites for a rollout of incredibly red carpet looks at the top of 2024’s award season, again, working with stylist of the moment Danielle Goldberg. There was custom-made leather by Louis Vuitton, a buttermilk pale yellow, bubble-hem frock by Proenza Schouler and that hot red Prada dress when she picked up her much-deserved first Golden Globe win for the cult series.

Nicola Coughlan

Whist the wardrobe of Bridgerton‘s Penelope Featherington is all pretty pastels, puff sleeves and strict corsetry, Irish actress, Nicola Coughlan, has become one of 2024’s biggest style influeners. She is unafraid to have fun with fashion, with some iconic looks being rolled out this year. Most notably, pink floor-length sequins and black opera gloves by Rodarte; a shimmering gold column Nina Ricci dress in a black velvety bow; and her incredible British Fashion Awards look in custom Gaurav Gupta.

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu

Emily of Emily In Paris is well known for her colour-popping, kitsch and sometimes questionable outfit choices, but it’s French-American actress Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, who plays Sylvie, who really steals the show on and off the screen. Her impeccable wardrobe is full of fearless pieces, from metallic jumpsuits to off-shoulder gowns, as well as perfect-fit capsule pieces like a great suit or power blazer, that give her a French fashion editor vibe.

Josh O’Connor

The Crown and Challengers star, Josh O’Connor has shown he is not afraid to take risks on the red carpet and his Met Gala look for 2024 – styled by Harry Styles‘ stylist Harry Lambert was no exception. Deconstructed tails by Loewe with flowery boots? It shouldn’t work, but he totally pulled it off.
